Lake Manyara Tree Lodge is the only lodge in Tanzania's unique Lake Manyara National Park, set in the heart of a mahogany forest where Ernest Hemingway once hunted. From here, the Tree Lodge is conveniently close to Tanzania's exquisite soda lake and is situated high up for excellent game viewing.
Lake Manyara Tree Lodge boasts ten spacious tree houses cradled in the boughs of mahogany trees. Each tree house suite features large windows to invite the lush forest inside. The classically elegant rooms are fitted with contemporary furnishings in neutral colors and textures and are outfitted with overhead fans, mosquito nets, and earthy, understated features. Rooms are spacious with comfortable lounging areas on the decks and in the rooms. Each tree house has an outdoor shower, bath, and double basin.
The main guest areas are intimate and cozy yet seat 20 people comfortably. There is a craft shop featuring signature community craft work, a pool, and a forest boma dining area where delicious dinners are prepared. Dinners are also offered on guests' private decks or in the sala. Breakfasts, picnic lunches, and sundowners can be enjoyed at the lakeshore, and lunches can be taken on private decks nestled in the mahogany forest.
NUMBER OF ROOMS: Cradled in the boughs of mahogany trees, 10 stilted tree house suites are a sophisticated blend of intimacy and romance, offering privacy and exclusivity in cool, leafy surrounds.
ROOM AMENITIES: Each tree house suite features large windows to invite the lush forest inside. The classically elegant rooms are fitted with contemporary furnishings in neutral colours and textures. Bedrooms have overhead fans, mosquito nets and earthy, understated features.
ROOM DECOR: The rooms are very spacious and bathrooms are especially well done with large bathtubs and even an outdoor shower. Furnishings and decorations are contemporary and abstract. Each tree house has its own private viewing deck with a comfortable sitting area and spectacular forest views. Falling asleep surrounded by the noises of the jungle will surely be one of the highlights for guests. Service is also second to none as your own private butler is on call for the duration of your stay to mix martinis or serve dinner on your private veranda.
Special Feature: Lake Manyara Tree Lodge is the only lodge in Lake Manyara National Park The towering escarpment of the Great Rift Valley is a breathtaking backdrop Privacy of the location ensures near exclusivity of game drives in the southern section of Lake Manyara National Park The Park is famous for its tree-climbing lions 350 species of birds make for good birdwatching Open 4x4 safari vehicles Great diversity of habitats Sundowners and lakeshore picnics.
FOOD & BEVERAGE FACILITIES: Overlooking a forest boma (outdoor dining area), guest areas are soaring spaces housing Dodoma artworks and tactile fabrics. An interactive kitchen allows guests to observe the preparation of delicious Pan-African cuisine which may be enjoyed in the theatrical boma, on dining decks, or on your private viewing deck with spectacular forest views. Breakfasts and picnics are also served on the lakeshore.
The food and Tree Lodge is simply excellent. Breakfast is very good and is usually served buffet style in the open dining terrace. Breakfast consists of a large assortment of fruits, cereals, breads, and eggs served to your order. However, if you wish, your butler is happy to serve you either breakfast in bed or on your private veranda. The best option for lunch is to arrange a private picnic down by the lakeshore where hopefully there is lots of hippo action and thousands of flamingos.
Alternatively, lunch is also offered at the lodge but we highly recommend opting for a serene picnic. Dinner is quite a production and a fairly formal affair. Once again, you always have the choice to have a more private and romantic meal in the comfort of your room or on your private veranda. There is a good variety of beer, wine and cocktails available.
There is a magnificent open-plan guest area with an intimate and cozy atmosphere overlooking the forest boma, with enough seating for 20 people. Dodoma carvings, African artefacts and sumptuous fabrics and prints are framed by banana-fibre ceilings and wood-panelled walls. There is also a stylish swimming pool and a crafts gallery, which features a good selection of community craftwork.
In 2002, Joash Were who has been instrumental in start up of many companies within Kenya and Beyond thought of it wisely that it was time to start up something tourism related. He had worked at great places. Bearing in mind that all the progressive people talk “WE” and not I, he has brought together a great team who are professional in their own rights.
