Mahali Mzuri Safari Camp Masai Mara is located 240 kilometers almost due west of Nairobi and the best way to arrive is by plane from the city's Wilson Airport which serves domestic destinations within Kenya. Flights take approximately 1 hour.
The Camp has 12 unique tented suites sleeping a maximum of 24 guests at any time. The tents are perched on a ridge looking over the valley with a distinctive design adapted to the local climate and terrain.
There are six tents on either side of the Main Tent, each accessible by a shared walkway, the furthest of which is approximately a 5 minute walk from the Main Tent. Ten of the 12 tents are designed to sleep two adults and all can be split into twin beds. The remaining two tents are configured so that the sitting area is enclosed with fold-out sofa beds accommodating up to two additional guests.
You certainly won't go hungry! From early morning snacks prior to game drives to multiple course menus in the evening the food served at Mahali Mzuri will be one of the highlights of your stay. The camp caters for those with special dietary needs so just let us know in advance and we'll do our best to have exactly what you need.
At breakfast a continental buffet will be served with hot dishes available ?á la carte, and guests typically share tables - it's a great time to chat with your fellow travelers about the wildlife you saw earlier that morning. Lunch is normally served on the main deck with individual tables and guests can order from the ?á la carte menu. Dinner could be around a large communal table, out in the bush or somewhere private just for two!
Children aged eight years or older are very welcome to stay at Mahali Mzuri. We have two tents which are able to accommodate additional guests in the separate enclosed sitting room. Children are able to join their parents on daily game drives, but must be 12 years or older to go on a safari walk.
The camp has children's books, games, and kites, plus a TV, DVD player and games console for extra entertainment. We would be delighted to organize tailored activities to further educate our younger guests on their African surroundings and the local wildlife. Baby-sitting can be arranged but please advise at the time of booking if this may be required. Special food and beverages or simple snacks and light meals can be prepared according to your child's tastes.
In a more secluded spot just beyond the Main Tent is our spa treatment room offering treatments using the Africology range of products which are wonderfully natural, are made from 100% essential oils and natural plant extracts, and are eco-friendly.
Mahali Mzuri Safari Camp Masai Mara Game drives are conducted in open 4x4 Land Cruiser vehicles, seating a maximum of six guests and there are early morning and late afternoon game drives. Night game drives will also be available and can be arranged by guests whilst at Mahali Mzuri.
The camp can also pack you a picnic lunch and set off on a full day drive to make the most of the bush. Safari Walks can also been arranged, and will be tailored specifically to the guests. They usually last around two hours and focus on the plant life and smaller game.
In 2002, Joash Were who has been instrumental in start up of many companies within Kenya and Beyond thought of it wisely that it was time to start up something tourism related. He had worked at great places. Bearing in mind that all the progressive people talk “WE” and not I, he has brought together a great team who are professional in their own rights.
